Book Description
About The Book

Every year thousands of devotees are visiting this ancient Jagannatha temple. Although devotees enter the temple campus and take darśana of the different deities and other sacred objects, they do not have any information about these deities or about places like Mukti Mandapa, Rohini Kunda and Kalpa Vața, and so on. Interestingly, inside the temple campus every temple, deity, tree, and stone has some significance. The whole area of the Jagannatha temple, including all the other temples in the campus, covers 10.7 acres. At the center, is the Śrī Jagannatha main temple Lord Jagannatha is worshiped along with His brother Balarama, His sister Subhadra, and the Sudarsana Cakra in the form of a pillar.

Preface

The first book I ever published was Sri Jagannatha, which described different pastimes of Lord Jagannatha. By His mercy, in due course of time, other books along with Śri Ksetra Parikrama were published.

These books are very much loved by devotees and are source of information about Puri and Lord Jagannatha. The publications are very conducive for developing devotion to Lord Jagannatha. Finally, by the inspiration of Lord Jagannatha, I felt that a book about Lord Jagannatha's temple and His sevā pūjā would be valuable for devotees. Western devotees are not permitted into Lord Jagannatha's temple because they are not from Hindu families. This is a tradition followed in this particular Jagannatha temple. Indians from Hindu families, however, are allowed to visit Jagannatha temple.

Every year thousands of devotees are visiting this ancient Jagannatha temple. Although devotees enter the temple campus and take darsana of the different deities and other sacred objects, they do not have any information about these deities or about places like Mukti Mandapa, Rohini Kunda and Kalpa Vata, and so on. Interestingly, inside the temple campus every temple, deity, tree, and stone has some significance. I am sure devotees will enjoy reading about such things.

I had thought that two books in the name of Sri Jagannatha and Sri Kṣetra Parikrama have already been published. Now it would be nice to publish a book about Sri Mandir, Lord Jagannatha's temple.
