Goddess Kali is the epitome of time, death, and doomsday who bursts with feminine power. She is also known as the creator and destroyer of the Universe, hence also referred to as mother nature. She embodies ‘Shakti’ the feminine energy, and is also the reincarnation of Goddess Parvati, Shiva’s consort. Goddess Kali’s skin bathes in the color blue or black implying the sky and the ocean and is seen with her tongue hanging out. Goddess Kali is often depicted in a frightening avatar of her wearing a skirt of broken arms, a garland of heads while holding a slashed head in a hand and collecting the dripping blood from it on a plate in the other. While she holds her weapons Trishul, Vajra as well as Khara in other hands.
In this brass sculpture of Goddess kali, she can be seen standing on Lord Shiva. The legend says that when goddess Kali had decided to destroy all the demons at once, she was intoxicated with demons' blood that she sucked to kill them, and thus had turned extremely violent until she stepped on Lord Shiva. The sculpture doesn’t abstain any attention to detail depicting the goddess with 8 arms holding various weapons and embodied with beautiful jewelry and magnificent mukut.
