“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha”
Green Tara is revered as the Mother goddess in Tibetan Buddhism who protects us from immediate dangers also guides and encourages us in our learning and personal and spiritual development. She is believed to be born from the tears of Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of compassion), when he looked down from heaven at the world of sufferings, the left tear gave birth to the peaceful White tara and from the right tear arose the fierce Green Tara, hence she is also referred as consort of Avalokiteshvara. Green is the color of vibrant energy and youthfulness, therefore Green Tara is affirmed as the goddess of action. She is seated here in sadhana posture with the right leg extended outwards on a pale blue lotus signifying her readiness to spring into action while the left leg is folded inwards in meditation.
The holy mother is perched on a double layered lotus pedestal, carved beautifully with every petal highlighted in clear designs. The right hand touches the right knee with the palm facing outwards in a gesture of ‘giving’ and holds the stem of a pink lotus while the left hand is postured near the heart in a mudra of granting refuge and holds a blue lotus as a symbol of power; both the lotuses bloom gracefully on either of her shoulders. Tara is jewelled humbly with necklaces, earrings and bracelets along with a supremely carved crown glorified on her head. The loving eyes are closed in compassion along with a sweet smile on her face.
The sculptor has carved the slender, long proportionate body of this Buddhist deity with smooth and sharp curves maintaining her charmness and divine aura. We at Exotic India avail you with one of the most distinctive and rare beauty of sculptural art.
