It is a magical simulation of real life appearance on canvas in oil paints. Calling her semi-nude wouldn't be wrong, for what covers her sensuous body is a transparent wrap, which instead of concealing, tantalizes. To the Malyalee woman, the model here, the body is no sin and sex is an art as well as a way of life. Gold necklaces studded with precious stones cling to her neck and her delicate earlobes are assaulted by large ear studs. Comparatively, her wrists hold just a couple of glass bangles. The artist successfully specifies the material of each item through carefully applied colours be it the feel of cloth, the overripe quality of some fruit or the rough surface of the cane baskets.
The artist has used the play of light from the right but as it darkens towards the left, it just blends with the muddy background. But the exquisitely painted jewellery, drapery, delicate finger tips or graceful facial expression does not allow a surgical analysis any further.
