Confined to women and women related issues, the book makes a concerted effort to present the status of Indian women against the ever-changing social, economic, political and academic backgrounds. Tracing the history of the women's major issues and actions theorem since the 19th century, the book provides an insight into the complex nature of work contributed by women, their educational status, their contribution in organized and unorganized sectors, their political participation, legal status, their position in the family and outside world, and some of the emergent issues.
