Sankaracharya is one of those outstanding personalities who have changed the course of history and culture within a short span of time. He has transformed the texture of Hinduism profoundly. His Advaita philosophy was a major contribution in the development of philosophical thought.

Dr T.M.P. Mahadevan (late) was an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy, Madras University and an Advaitan by temperament and training. He was engaged in intensive research in Advaita classics. He wrote several outstanding publications, notable among these being his doctoral thesis on the Philosophy of Advaita, Gaudapada: A Study in Early Advaita, Outlines of Hinduism, and a critical edition of Sambandha-Vartika of Suresvara.
