From an early age Rai started receiving his training from his father, Lt Sri Ramakant Rai, a renowned Tabla Artiste and Vocalist Later on continued taking and learning techniques and secrets Tabla-playing) from his Guru Prof Lalji Shrivastava of Allahabad (Prayagraj) through Guru-Shishya tradition, disciple the Pandit Int of Jaipur Gharana, Pandit Shyam of Banaras Gharana and Ustad Yusuf Sahab of Farrukhabad Gharana He also took Sitar training from Ashim Kr Banerjee, a renowned Sitar-artiste of Allahabad (Prayagraj). He has completed his Graduation Gorakhpur University (UP), Post-Graduation Music (Sangeet Praveen Tabla), Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad (UP), M.A Sitar from Indira Sangit Vishwavidyalaya Khairagarh (Chhateesgargh), Post-Graduation Sanskrit (Sanskritasahityacharya) from Sampoornanand Varanasi-UP. received the 2008 Banasthali University, (Rajasthan) He has performed Tabla and Sitar at various in India abroad.
