Before the advent of modern medicine, health-care was symptomatic; and based on the symptoms, home remedies were prescribed. Diseases like cancer, heart problems, diabetes, obesity, asthma, thyroid, etc. were unknown. With the passage of time and advancement in science and technology, these diseases were gradually identified. Man was searching to live a healthy and disease-free life. Home remedies work well as first-aid, but with the advancement of science and better scientific diagnostic methods of treatment, conventional medical approaches to health-care were developed. Alongside this, complementary as well as alternative medical therapies came into existence. The latter therapies go to the root cause of the disease to cure a patient.

The authors' book deals with the development of alternative medicine, such as nutrition, diet, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, chiropractic, naturopathy, yoga, etc., and can be used as a reference book and guide for all medical practitioners.

The book has given a full history about how Samuel Hahnemann developed basic principles of homeopathy. These are described in great detail in the book. Hahnemann has repeatedly revised his doctrine of homeopathic medicines, and published many revised editions of Organon of Medicine.

The authors' book has defined six basic laws of homeopathy (refer to chapter 4) and has given a list of homeopathic remedies. Chapter 5 refers to the application of complex homeopathy, a useful reference to practitioners. Various charts of medicines for variety of symptoms are provided for reference. The book has given plethora of the bioenergetic medical techniques which can be used for diagnosis and therapy. These techniques may come handy for practitioners.

We are on the cusp of a medical revolution where healthcare practitioners will, for the first time, be able to combine the best of 21st century medicine with natural, organic treatments honed by centuries of practice.

This holistic approach to healing will usher in a new era of patient care and general welfare.

We ensure in our practice that our focus is patient first, and that health exists on a continuum where imbalance/deficiency in the body is the cause of the disease state. Imbalance begins at the biological level even when no symptom is present at that time. We believe therefore, that prior to the first injury to the body, is the rightful place for Complementary Medicine to intervene.

We take time to inform our patients about the choice of available resources from other disciplines of alternative medicine such as, Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Yoga, Sports and Fitness related exercises to enhance good health, etc.

The obeisance to healing practices is presently taking place along. modern forms of treatment such as Immune Therapy and Laser surgery.

It is the destiny of every human being to face illness in this physical life. We assist people to make them understand what it needs to be done to help regain health and vitality, and to enable them to make the final decision as to which treatment to follow.

The practice of medicine in the 21" Century can seem complex, with numerous fields of specialization apportioned between two broad systems identified as conventional medicine and alternative or complementary medicines. The modus operandi of these two modes differ greatly in their identification, diagnosis and treatment of disease states.

The fundamental difference between the conventional and the complementary approach in health care is best understood in terms of the differences in their basic perceptions of health. Conventional medicine typically views health as the absence of disease; whereas complementary medicine tends to view health as a balance of body system encompassing the mental, emotional and physical state of being.

Conventional medicine relies on identification of manifestations of the disease state. These manifestations are germ symptoms and lead the practitioner to treat aspects of the identified symptoms. The differential diagnosis proceeds along the route of identifying symptoms, and based on the totality of the clinical symptoms, a conclusion is reached. For example, head pain may be described as a headache by the patient and the practitioner of conventional medicine attempts to treat the symptom by prescribing a drug that will mitigate the head pain. There is little attempt to understand the etiology of the original head pain as the prescribed cyclooxygenase inhibitor is efficient at removing the presenting symptoms.
