The story has been written in simple language, accompanied by colourful illustrations. The meanings of difficult words have been given at the end of the book.

Printed in large font, the volume is suitable for young readers, aged six years and above.

About the Book

The Mahabharata is the longest epic poem in the world, believed to have been recited by sage Veda Vyasa and penned by Lord Ganesha.

One of the greatest classics of India, the Mahabharata is a gripping saga of revenge, jealousy, honour, friendship and brotherhood. The war between the cousins Pandavas and Kauravas is a crucial episode in the story, ending with the victory of those who followed the path of righteousness.

The mega epic, with its intriguing plots, sub-plots and twists, has been adapted into movies and television series in many Indian languages.

Preface

The Mahabharata is one of the two great epics of India. It is the longest epic poem in the world, believed to be recited by Veda Vyasa and written by Lord Ganesha.

Originally written in Sanskrit, the Mahabharata is the story of rivalry between brothers, friendship, betrayal, war, honour and revenge. It imparts an important message that those who follow the righteous path always emerge victorious.

The Kauravas hated their cousins, the Pandavas, and were jealous of them. The Pandavas, who believed in dharma and duty, always had to face the wrath of the Kauravas. In the ensuing war between the cousins, good triumphs over evil, albeit with a heavy price-the loss of near and dear ones.
