Preface

India is considered to be a Hindu majority state. But what is the position of Hindus in India? In the name of secularism our Constitution has protected the rights of minority religions but no such protection is accorded to Hindus. The managements of their temples are taken over by the government and their income and the donations that are given to such temples by the devotees are appropriated by the government and even utilized for welfare of minority communities. In the name of secularism, persons from religious minority are appointed as trustees on the Boards of such temples. On the other hand there is no government interference in the administration of churches and mosques and their income is not touched.

Even though amongst the three major religion in India viz. Hinduism, Christianity and Islam, Hinduism is the only religion which can boast itself to be secular while the other two are communal and fundamentalists, Hinduism is made communal and fundamentalist while other two are considered to be secular. It was thought that after independence the menace f conversions will stop but on the other hand it has increased :o such a level and has come to such a state that a time may soon come when whole of India especially tribal will be converted to Christianity and Islam. And this is happening when in Europe and America many are giving up and renouncing Christianity.

Even though we call ourselves Hindus, most of us do not know what is Hinduism, its principles, ideology and philosophy. Of course we are following Hindu rites and rituals in our religious matters but that too without knowing their significance. Our condition has come to such a stage that many Hindus are rather ashamed to call themselves Hindus. What is the reason for all this? Many Hindus are holding Hinduism responsible for the Hindus’ downfall instead of analyzing the real causes and suggesting the remedial steps. I have fries to find out the reasons for Hindus’ indifference which brought them to the present stage while analyzing and discussing the recent book “The Hindus-An Alternative History” by Dr. Wendy Doniger which has distorted Indian history especially Ramayana and Mahabharata.

I have tried to analyse the present situation and have tried to show what a Hindu is supposed to be under the Hinduism and what he factually is at present, as also the reason for it and who are responsible for the Hindus’ downfall and how we still can remedy the situation I hope the readers will welcome this book the same way as they have welcomed my earlier books and will act as the real Hindus to save the Hinduism from an impending disaster.
